Casa Launa Launa is located in the tranquil village of Pitres, near the Sierra Nevada National Park. Pitres is some 75 km from Granada and 45 km from the coast. Pitres is the ideal starting point for many different walks: to the villages of Ferreirola, Atalbeitar, Mecina and Fondales and also for hikes to the high peaks of the Sierra, the Mulhacen 3482 m and the Véleta 3362m.
Casa Launa is located in a new neighbourhood of Pitres on the first floor of a three storey building. From the house, the garden and the terrace you have nice views onto the surrounding mountains, the village and sports pitch.
Casa Launa has a big living room, an American kitchen, two bedrooms (one with double bed and one with single beds) and a bathroom. There is an open fireplace in the living room and central heating.
At the front of the house there is a terrace, covered by a vine in summer, where you can enjoy your breakfast and a small garden that faces south-east.
Area Description:
Another way of celebrating your holidays….
Are you looking for an enchanted place surrounded bij the marvelous countryside, between friendly people? A place where your cultural and sportive interests can be challenged? Read along….
Celebrate your holidays in the National Park of Sierra Nevada, at an hour distance from Granada, with his worldfamous Alhambra. At little more than two hours drive from Málaga and three from Almeria. Some 30 miles from the coast.
Pitres is a white washed village located on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada, facing the Sierra la Contraviesa and near to the tops of the mountain Mulhacén (3482m, over 10.000 feet) and Veleta 3392m in a valley next to the Poqueira Valley with the villages of Pampaneira, Bubión and Capeira. Also near to Trevélez, famous for his dried hams. Pitres and surroundings are one of the most wonderful villages of the Alpujarras, ‘the grass land”as this southslopes of the Sierra Nevada are called. The Moors cultivated and irrigated the land. All the houses have the same construction: white houses with flat roofs, tipical round chimneys, chestnut wood for windows and doors. Some of these houses are 600 years old. In the surroundings you find oak-, chestnut- and cherrytrees.
The village of Pitres
La Taha de Pitres, the administrative name the Moors gave to these lands, composes of various cute little villages like Capilerilla, Mecina, Fondales, Atalbeitar and Ferreirola. Pitres is situated at 1300 m above sea-level. You won´t find any fancy monuments, but you still can enjoy the silence in the narrow streets, with white houses covered with flowers and the typical alpujarenan arquitecture.
In Pitres you can enjoy the restaurants and bars on the main square, also there is a public internet facility, 24-hours medical assistance, a farmacy, a bookshop with international newspapers and a well assorted supermarket.
It´s the ideal place to discover the Alpujarras, either hiking or by car.
Activities
In the surroundings of Pitres you can make some very fine excursions. The GR-7, the walking-route from Athens till Algeciras is very famous. Also you can do horseriding, climb mountains, fishing and take guitar lessons. You can enjoy flamenco or Moorish tea-sessions.
